ABOUT US

Sustainability Makers is an Italian association of professionals who specialise in planning and implementing sustainability strategies and projects, in business enterprises and other organisations: it’s a third-sector organization which role is to qualify and enhance the skills and specialisation of these professionals through training and networking activities, studies and research, conferences, workshops and webinars.

Set up in 2006 as CSR Manager Network, in 2021 the association changed its name to Sustainability Makers – the professional network.

It represents Italy at the Global Network of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

Sustainability Makers has a multi-faceted identity:

  • a skills development laboratory, where sustainability professionals illustrate their experiences, benchmark with Italian and international best practices, learn about new models, approaches, standards, legislation.
  • an industry association that promotes a rapidly evolving profession, in and outside the company
  • a representative body for dialogue with institutions, the academic and associative world, the unions, the voluntary sector and the media
  • a centre that promotes and tests sustainability, helping to spread a sustainability culture by taking an active part in national and international debate
  • the Italian reference for international networks active in corporate sustainability

MISSION

To promote the standing of sustainability professionals for the good of the company and of society.

To develop the professions associated with sustainability in the interest of the common good and corporate competitiveness.

GOALS

Qualification of the sustainability profession:
acquisition of sustainability knowledge and skills on basic issues of vital importance for professionals and on cutting-edge questions

Promotion of the standing of the profession:
development of awareness of the value created by sustainability professionals

Promotion of sustainability policies:
increased public awareness of critical sustainability issues and dissemination of the sustainability culture in universities and training institutes

Construction of networks of professionals:
active participation in international networks on sustainability issues, development of relations with the world’s leading research centres

Workshops for members, one of the association’s most important activities providing valuable opportunities for professional updates and discussion

Webinars and workgroups for members to examine technical questions and new issues

Research in collaboration with universities and other organisations

Conferences open to the public on cutting-edge issues, with leading Italian and international experts

Publications and scientific papers in international journals

Contributions to debate through position papers and documents on key questions

Conventions in a variety of areas, including training courses and social and environmental certification services

Website with a private members area offering a wide range of services and documents

INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE

 

The association is a partner of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD): it represents Italy at the Global Network, a network of over 60 organisations around the world (more than 5,000 companies), who share a commitment to promote sustainable development in their countries’ business communities.

The association promotes and is a member of the European Association of Sustainability Professionals (EASP), the network where European sustainability professional organisations pool their experiences to make sustainability a driver for growth.

As stated in its mission, the activities of the ALTIS business management school are designed to promote innovative corporate policies that foster competitive advantage and meet stakeholders’ social and environmental expectations.


ISVI, Istituto per i Valori d’Impresa, a no-profit CSR association established in 1990. It highlights and promotes socially responsible conduct through analysis and communication of significant experiences and the development of new corporate tools and solutions.
